The intro of this album is something I will never forget. Those scattered notes that come together into a melody are one of the most intense things I've ever heard. The album in general can be described as "silent music." It's all so calm, light, the sounds are crafted as a work of art.
There are passages with fragmentary instrumentation that describe equally fragmented landscapes, others where sounds solidify into extremely pleasant classical melodies with the voice practically not singing but serving as an instrument.
Many passages make me reflect on the emptiness of my existence, I wish this review could focus on the technical side of the album, but I can’t. I don’t think anyone could.
What makes this album incredible is its psychological component. Extremely melancholic atmospheres, sad yet beautiful at the same time. They take your mind and lead it to reflect on the brevity of our existence (I believe the album is short for this very reason). A blink of an eye and it's all gone.
Luciano Cilio is a master at this, he laid the foundations of Italian soundtracks, each track has its own reason and the transitions between one track and another are perfect.
It is minimalist classical music that does not aim to dazzle the listener with grandeur or technicalities, it stays in its simplicity and hits you straight in the heart.
I undoubtedly consider it the best album in Italian music.
