THE REVIEW

New recording work for the Milanese composer and musician Luca Olivieri. Gathered under the title "The Fourth Dimension" in an elegant cardboard package, we find twelve instrumental tracks, including original compositions and rearrangements of pieces created for theater and soundtracks for silent films from the past.

The entire work is a constant flow of delicate atmospheres where the melodic interventions of the accordion (played by the talented Fabio Martino) and the winds of Mario Arcari dominate. Mario Arcari is a versatile musician who has already worked alongside Fabrizio De André and Ivano Fossati. From "Angelina", the track that opens the album, to "Il Sogno di Napo", passing through "Un Mondo Segreto", "Baricentro Morale" (highlighted by Giovanna Vivaldi's cello) and "Alibi", there is a delicate alternation of minimal electronics, expertly crafted by Olivieri, acoustic and electric instruments, often reminiscent of some modern French productions, from Yann Tiersen to Air. An album that smells like black and white cinema, whose strength lies in musical experiments where oboe, clarinet, electric guitar, glockenspiel, percussion, synth, melodica, double bass and more meet, creating an ensemble that is truly suggestive and never banal.

Balancing between romanticism and ambient, the album captivates through repeated listening, leading us on a sonic journey that reaches the thresholds of time—time that the author himself wanted to narrate through the project title but, above all, with generous music, full of evocative melodies and dreamy settings. Recommended.
