It took him a couple of years and then he released it: “Pop-Up” is the new Luca Carboni. Since October 2, with a video that harkens back to the clips of the '80s, complete with a swarm of girls in 'catch me if you can' uniforms, Luca Carboni has put the CD out there. The reasons that led to the title of “Pop-Up” were clarified by the Bolognese singer-songwriter himself. Mainly, Carboni pointed out, the reasons that ferried all the tracks contained in the CD towards the common title of “Pop-Up” are twofold. The first signals a sort of look back by the artist from Emilia: “I was looking for a title similar to “Forever”, my second work, and that would hint at the album without telling it,” he said. Subsequently, regarding the second point, he added: “And then that ‘Pop’ defines it very well since it is a pop album.”
In this new album, Luca's style can be felt throughout. “Luca lo stesso”, the track that's doing very well on radio rotation, seems like a sort of assertion set to music and words. When asked if the song wants to signal his historic status as the top of the class in the singer-songwriter arena, Luca calmly replied: “No, I've never fought to be the top of the class, although obviously, I care that what I do is appreciated. Every little chapter of the song is simply a reflection on love. Additionally, I touch on a few social themes that I feel are particularly mine.” Among the tracks present on this CD, at least two have an urban/sentimental interest. In fact, one is called “Milano” – dedicated to the Lombard metropolis because, at a certain moment in his life, he thought of living there permanently and because the city reminds him of a family figure – and the other, “Bologna è una regola”, examines the center of Emilia as a normalizer of behavior and lifestyles. The new album also features irony, crystallized in the title “Dieci minuti”: the 'epic' that, according to this amused point of view, women take to get ready to go out. In this last track, a rapper's contribution was planned, but for various reasons, the project was shelved. The names mentioned were J-Ax or Clementino.
It seems that the singer-songwriter was contacted for the next Sanremo by Carlo Conti, the designated host for the 2016 version. In this regard, Luca specified that, given the very recent autumn release, his presence at the festival wouldn't be particularly appropriate. However, Carboni also clarified that if in the future the right opportunity arose to participate on the most important stage of Italian music, it would be his intention to present himself as a participant in the competition and not as a guest. As for the tour theme, it has been postponed to 2016: “I'm still thinking about it, I postponed it to the new year on purpose to have more time to think about it,” concluded Luca Carboni.
