THE REVIEW

“Lunaria”, the second work by Luca Aquino, is a confirmation of what was announced with “Sopra le nuvole”, his debut album.

The record, recorded in 2009 by the quartet (Luca Aquino, Giovanni Francesca, Marco Bardoscia, Gianluca Brugnano) and also enriched by contributions from Maria Pia De Vito, Roy Hargrove, and Carla Casarano, is capable of transporting the listener on a visionary Zappa-style journey, as well as, once again, among the softest, whitest clouds. The attention is frequently held by sweet melodies and metropolitan sounds, woven into splendid harmonic interweavings that satisfy even the most demanding. Countless stylistic influences merge to create a sound that is always original and personal. Often resorting to the deliberate use of electronics, oscillating between metropolitan, progressive, Scandinavian, jazz, rock sounds and delving into each of them without being imprisoned by them, these 67 minutes and 23 seconds fly by in a flash while undoubtedly leaving their mark.
