Louise Attaque!!! The name of a band that with just two albums has found immense fame in Francophone countries. After a five-year break from the previous "Comme On A Dit" comes "À Plus Tard Crocodile", and it's love at first sight.
"La Traversée Du Désert" and "Revolver" have a catchy melody, with a pop arrangement effectively mixed with electronics. "Shibuya Station" is a track that seems taken from a punk record of the late '70s, always mixed with electronics. "Sean Penn, Mitchum" is simply fantastic: a violin riff that repeats throughout the piece accompanied by bass and electronic drums for the entire track, creating a unique sound: ambient, electronic with a touch of classic French song, like "Si l'On Marchait Jusqu'à Demain". Then the group wants to delight us with "Salomé", which mixes their music with that of the early Noir Désir, achieving an excellent result. "Si C'était hier" is one of the best tracks on the album: catchy yet exhilarating. The violin and keyboards mix pleasantly, and the listener is struck by a whirlwind of sounds that leaves them ecstatic. The thirty-six seconds of "Oui, Non" precede "Nos Sourires" and "Depuis Toujours", two tracks of distinct craftsmanship. "À l'Envers" is absolutely the best track on the album: 6 minutes and 50 seconds of ambient and rock sounds that increase and intensify as the seconds pass, involving the listener, and then fade at the end. In "Manhattan", the bass makes itself heard, and we return to the Louise-Noir Désir sounds. "See You Later Alligator" is the title track. Or rather, it is the title track translated into English, but despite everything, the quality does not drop and Louise Attaque once again confirm themselves with a track as cheerful as it is intriguing. In "La Nuit", sounds left in "À l'Envers" are revisited, "Oui, Non, Encore..." is the encore of "Oui, Non", and "Est-ce Tu M'Aimes Encore?" is the mini-track performed more slowly and with a more reggae rhythm. "La Valse" is a slow piece that creates an atmosphere starting with the notes of a piano, immediately moving the listener and keeping them glued to the speakers until the end of the track itself. "Ça M'aurait Plus" concludes a really high-level album.
This album was recorded between Paris and New York, and the producer is Mark Plati, the producer of the Talking Heads, who has recently also worked with David Bowie. The five-year break has done wonders for the transalpine group, which is looking forward to a tour that will incredibly also touch Italy for two dates in Florence and Milan. Well done, Louise Attaque!!!
