Loudness are a Japanese heavy metal band formed in Osaka in 1981 by guitarist Akira Takasaki and drummer Munetaka Higuchi. They pioneered Japanese metal internationally, reached the U.S. Billboard Top 100 during their peak, and broke through globally with Thunder in the East. Higuchi passed away in 2008.
