We can say it right away: "Liberation Transmission" is not on the level of the excellent "The Fake Sound Of Progress," nor is it close to the masterpiece "Start Something." With that said, I don't want to condemn a good effort by the Welsh band, which, unlike previous works, has been "choked" by the majors and the uncontrollable desire for popularity.
The CD starts with "Everyday Combat," which seems like an alien body to the album because it has the style of "Start Something." "A Town Called Hypocrisy" and "The New Transmission" bring the listener right into the thick of the album, not bad; "Rooftops" is the alter-ego of "Last Train Home" but is less substantial. "Can't Stop, Gotta Date With Hate" is nothing short of an insult to rock, it sounds like a piece from "The Calling." After a good trio of songs: "Can't Catch Tomorrow," "Everybody's Screaming," and "Broken Hearts, Torn Up Letters And The Story Of A Lonely Girl," we arrive at another very interesting piece: "4: AM Forever," which harks back to Nickelback. The album ends with "For All These Times Kid, For All These Times," decent, "Heaven For The Weather, Hell For The Company," not bad, and "Always All Ways," scandalous...
Why 4 stars? Because the talent is there and it shows.
"Liberation Transmission seems to have been brought to light with one purpose: to sell."
"It all makes you want to vomit, EVERYTHING."
