Genius album from an undeservedly unknown band.
We're talking about the Natas, representatives of the Argentine Stoner-Rock scene, in my opinion one of the most valid and exciting stoner bands currently around.

The Natas reach an important milestone in their journey with Corsario Negro, which began with the previous Delmar and La ciudad de Brahman. However, it is difficult to consider just one album of theirs as a standalone product, at least it is difficult for me, because I consider everything as a whole that reveals only part of the magnificent Natas world to me.

As I always tell my friends, the Natas don't resemble anyone, they're not Kyuss-like, they're not QOTSA-like, they are something totally different. And special.
I could talk about their originality, the indisputable technique hidden (or not so hidden) in their compositions... However, I would rather speak only of emotions, because they are the main and only important thing that emerges when listening to, for example, their latest "Corsario Negro".

The evocative titles (Planeta Solitario, Contemplando la Niebla...) don't hide false promises: the sensation is direct, a ride in the desert on a dark night, better yet, during a solar eclipse, where the spirit gets lost and then returns, gaining a new dimension.

Heavy and hypnotic riffs, acid guitars that seem to rise from the throat of a mountain (Meteoro 2028), haunting melodies (Lei Motive), the voice sealing a few but significant words, never in the foreground, like dreams or nightmares often speak. This is a stoner-rock (if we seek easy labels) made of great passion and even greater poetry, which to tell the truth suits better with autumn than with summer, due to its gloominess: try it, as I did, on a cold autumn evening when the world is shrouded in fog, listen to Contemplando la Niebla (and smoking a big fat joint too!!!!!), and you'll understand what I mean.
Try to take the stunning Corsario Negro as the musical guide of a long car journey (Viaje... en la tempesta...) and tell me if you won't be traveling towards the moon.

Natas reads as Satan backward, but now that I've told you, don't think of low-brow advertising ploys or "devilry" à la reverend Manson: Natas is the black, the dark, the hypnosis, the dream granted to the human being that doesn't necessarily have to end.
