Take two:
Actually, it was take one, but it didn’t quite convince me.
1982, blessed year.
Incredible things happened, right? (Notice the perfect use of the passato remoto, it’s unlikely to happen again). Yes, truly incredible, Max. Let’s play a game: I’ll think of an event from that year and you have to guess it.
Easy—maybe not for you, but I remember one in particular that happened on the evening of July 11. World champions, world champions, world champions! Everyone remembers exactly what they were doing, how they celebrated, Pertini standing, applauding, Tardelli’s run…
No, I meant other events…
Yes, the Commodore 64 was born (the number refers to the KB of memory), at a price of $595, 973,500 lire, later lowered to 799,000 lire.
No
The death of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, poor thing …, or the Falklands war between England and Argentina, or the much-missed driver Giles Villeneuve dying in a terrifying accident during a Grand Prix practice session, or Spielberg’s ET or Rutger Hauer delivering the famous monologue: “Ho visto cose che voi umani non potete immaginarvi, navi da combattimento in fiamme al largo dei bastioni di Orione, e ho visto i raggi B balenare nel buio vicino alle porte di Tannhauser. E tutti quei momenti andranno perduti nel tempo, come lacrime nella pioggia. E’ tempo di morire.”
For each of those moments I could tell you what I was thinking, what I said, who I was with, even funny or sad stories… Ah, here it is, Thiago Motta was born, joy for Inter fans and Bologna fans, pain for the gobbi…
No, Max, I meant musical events
Of course, so, in 1982 Thriller came out, I think it’s surpassed 100 million copies sold, then Nebraska, the Boss’s masterpiece, or the Central Park concert by Tom and Jerry (Simon & Garfunkel), Toto IV, Ozzy who bites (so they say) a bat, Asia… Oh, right, the ABBA split up (temporarily), a terrible réunion.
No, no, you’re still off track. In our country, in Italy.
Cuccurucucù paloma? No
Teresa De Sio? No
Bella ‘mbriana? No
Battisti? Zero? I Pooh? No
That’s it, I give up, Max. Tell me.
Traslocando, by Bertè. To me it’s her greatest hit. I’ll go further—it’s among the 20 best Italian albums ever. Listen to it, it’s worth it. She’s an excellent performer, the tracks are signed by the best Fossati, what more could you want? The only track that’s not very impactful is the one by her friend Renato, and it almost seems like he did it on purpose.
Should I wrap it up here?
Sure, you’re getting on my nerves with your damn games.

Loredana’s voice is as powerful today as it was when the record was released.
‘Traslocando’ remains a cornerstone of Italian pop.
