Lyrical themes cited in reviews include occultism, history, religion, loss and pain. Reviewers compare the band's sound to Cathedral, Candlemass and Reverend Bizarre.

DeBaser hosts two reviews by Hellring that examine Lord Vicar's adherence to classic epic doom. Fear No Pain (2008) is praised for quality despite lack of innovation; Signs Of Osiris (2011) is viewed as a step down. Overall: competent, traditional doom for fans of the genre.

For:Fans of classic and epic doom metal; listeners of Candlemass, Cathedral and Reverend Bizarre.

Lord Vicar plays a rock-solid, powerful doom, born from a blend of Cathedral, Candlemass, and the Reverend himself.
