LA RECENSIONE

The first thing I thought after getting my hands on this album is how in the world one could come up with a name like Lola Stonecracker for their band. It's a question I'd like to see them asked in one of the interviews they will give during their promotional phase. We'll see, I suppose. Secondly, the meaning of "hard'n'heavy / post grunge band" basically means they do everything and nothing at the same time according to this brief description of their offering. But let's go further, namely to their new album "Doomsday Breakdown." An album that certainly has something heavy inside, but very little when compared to the amount of rock'n'roll found in the fifteen tracks offered. Sharing the stage with Reckless Love, Gilby Clarke, and Adler’s Appetite has certainly given that '80s/'90s flavor to the sound of Lola Stonecracker, competent composers who are always ready to deliver guitar hero solos and delightfully cheeky songs. A band that can hold their own, skilled at producing potential hits like "Witch Lady" and "All This Time" and at the same time, not afraid to throw in a few old-school ballads here and there capable of warming the hearts of the most romantic rockers. A major advantage of this band is the singer, truly very talented at varying across multiple tones and keeping the listener's interest high in every track through outstanding performances. In conclusion, one wonders how useful biographies are these days, as often they hardly match the bands' offerings. A downside that nevertheless doesn't tarnish a fine hard rock album like "Doomsday Breakdown."
