Are you familiar with the mustaches Duchamp painted on the Mona Lisa? Well, the debut album from L'officina della camomilla is made of the same stuff as those mustaches! Avoiding the rock of the academics, the cliché rhymes, the useless technicalities that aren't needed in this context, with a way of writing reminiscent of Rimbaud but more adolescent and cheerful, after having published song after song (recorded "in their bedroom") on the web, the band arrives at their first album "Senontipiacefalostesso Uno" for Garrincha Dischi.

The first song on the album begins with a question "Cecilia today, do you feel like setting the school on fire early?" we're off to a good start! Immediately plunged into this world colored by playful metropolitan images, by sweet acidity "I'd kiss you while spitting a butt in your mouth," by tender badassery, by a damned exploded building, by military zones that sparkle as she walks by disheveled (because there's always a 'she' and you can't escape it!), but also by melancholic drawings, photographic memories to be dusted off, by apartment rooms, by soft anger, by the desire to see no one!

Instrumentally, the tracks never bore! The first track is the cheerful and carefree "Dai graffiti del mercato comunale" which reminds one of things akin to pillow fights comparable to the Fratellis. As the album progresses electronics come forward but never excessively. Dreamlike is the instrumental line of "La tua ragazza non ascolta i Beat Happening" (sad girl!) feat. Lo Stato Sociale, a song full, full of drugs. There’s also room for the country-rock of "La provincia non è bella da fotografare." The following track, "Ho fatto esplodere il mio condominio di merda" is impactful...PUNK! Or maybe proto-grunge mixed with CCCP??? The last track "Senontipiacefalostesso" is very delicate, it's a light painting with a white background where a film full of simple images is projected, of everyday life "You are light when you fold things," of fragile metaphors like tissue paper kites floating between the clouds and the city that I won't list here because you MUST ABSOLUTELY LISTEN TO THE ALBUM!!! And if you don’t like it (vaffanculo!)... it doesn’t matter! Peace!
