This isn’t a real review, but a collection of comments and a few little reflections.

I’m fed up with the groups (thousands and thousands) that stick together two silly things, a dozen swear words, and four political references, and become the voice of a generation through neighborhood language, unaware of generating only violence and barrenness. Learn to write.” timandro80

“I’m fed up with the groups that become famous without having a shred of talent” Mitofied

“It’s true, they are just funny fools. As soon as I get the chance, I’ll go listen to them. Because I like bands of funny fools. The CD is a bit foolish but funny. Clear concept? ;)”Fofa81

“The decline of Western civilization. Inexorable. The lowest point of Italian "alternative" music. Saw them live last night in Umbertide, they justified the uncivil act of throwing stones at them. I hope that natural selection does its job well for once.” Nic Piro

“Maybe. But as long as you fight to call everyone a hipster, I’m going to their concerts and having fun!!” guybrushization

“They are so indie that I’m making a video with all the communist-anarchists of the Italian scene who think they are indie.” JackDDCandle

I would say that’s enough. Here are the most frequent and representative comments about Lo stato sociale and Turisti della democrazia; I find this collection of opinions very colorful and quite truthful, with this group you either hate them, love them, or just have a good laugh and don’t care; and I could have continued citing other comments but this would have led to a certain redundancy; rather there’s a constant thought that has been accompanying me for months, and it is: are they really like this?

Lo stato sociale is a colorful ball you find by chance on the street while you are heading home thinking it’s just another boring day, the group you listen to by chance on some social network and they immediately make you smile, because “sono così indie” is certainly their most known and shared song; they’re the typical person you meet by chance on a Friday night at the usual pub/usual place with the usual friends and the usual vodka&(ingredient of choice), a night you think will be the same as usual, almost bordering on boredom and instead, almost by chance, you meet a personality a bit outside the box and a bit not, a bit stupid and a bit not, a bit drunk and a bit not. Who says stupid and useless things like this paragraph.

But going back to Turisti della democrazia, “Pop” is definitely the piece I find most interesting, but the version from Welfare Pop, not the one from Turisti della democrazia. Where the recording quality has substantially improved but the reworking of some pieces, including Pop, is not entirely convincing.

Do you think that just listening to the CD is enough to understand, or at least try to understand Lo stato sociale? Then you are hugely mistaken; it is in live performances that Lodo and the others reconstruct, deconstruct, and create every single note.

Influences? It’s impossible not to mention Offlaga Disco Pax, but in a direct comparison, it becomes clear that Lo stato sociale are the dumb cousins; and it’s equally impossible not to think of Uochi Toki when listening to “Ladro di cuori col bruco”.

Ps: I still haven’t understood why the videos on the Bolognese hills but I don’t care, “Amore ai tempi dell’IKEA” always makes me smile.

And finally:

“Will you stop listening to this crap? Sure, now every Tom, Dick, and Harry is making music. You are not artists. Musicians are something else entirely, not these little kids who get even five thousand views, always followed by the usual circle of "fans". We’re fed up with groups like "La Fame di Camilla", "Le Luci della Centrale Elettrica", "Marta sui Tubi" and "L’Officina della Camomilla" and the Caffèmacchiato. Enough, Holy Christ.”DeiaSchwindel
