LA RECENSIONE

Without a doubt, one of the iconic albums of crossover and beyond, a true Masterpiece!

You somewhat blamed me for the few lines dedicated to the latest work by Davis & co., but there wasn't much to say!

Here the "clock stops", we are in '93 and the four young men of color already have two albums of great quality behind them, where their individual potential and the pronounced sense of mixing funky with thrash, or hard rock with soul or hardcore with hip hop are evident. Something was missing, perfection!

"Stain" is a varied, strong, fast, intimate, and very innovative album. It starts off with a bang with the beautiful and powerful "Go Away", truly an original track in many parts with sublime technical peaks; it continues with "Ignorance Is Bliss" and believe me, apart from the ever-aggressive and very powerful sound, that way Glover sings with soul and blues undertones drives me crazy and continues pleasantly in "Leave It Alone".

It arrives at "Bi" a fairly catchy track full of funk energy with the inevitable stopped riff at every turn; suddenly, the album takes an incredible turn, exactly like that, "Auslander" is pure innovation for the time. Besides mixing all those bits and bobs I listed before, the Living Colour also adds that industrial touch that makes this track truly unique and original!... The rest is a sonic orgy between intimate and hypnotic hard rock and beyond, I mention "Nothingness", "Hemp", "Wall".

For all music lovers in general, this album cannot be missing from your collection!

Middle man'

I don't have a need to be the best
Don't want to be just like the rest
Just stay who I am
Just an ordinary middle man

Give me the happy medium
Don't want to be the one whose leading them
I've got no master plan
Just a simple Middle man

Standing on a fine line between this and that
Just biding my time waiting for a sign
to tell me that I'm something special

My ideas are mine alone
Not yours, not theirs, but I care
I hurt for you, but not with you
I love that thing that's inside you
but I'm not your fan
I'm a stranger in a strange land
I'm your middle man

But I'm not your fan
I'm a stranger in a strange land
I am your middle man

Middle man yeah, yeah
I'm not your fan
I'm just a middle man
yours, theirs, but I care
I've got no master plan
Just stay who I am
Just a middle man

Stain is a vortex. Of emotions and reflections.

Unlike many other bands that try to contest by screaming revenge and shouting anger, Living Colour possess an enviable melodic creativity and elegance in arrangements.
