THE REVIEW

BUT DOES ANYONE LIKE THE LIVE WIRE?

I want to tell you about a group that's almost unknown, the Live Wire, who, in the early '80s, recorded 3 LPs: "Pick it up," "No fright," and "Changes made"... I confess that for reasons I don't quite understand, they are my all-time favorite band, the ones I'd take with me to the famous desert island. They've been labeled as Dire Straits clones, but in reality, they formed around the same time, and their music isn't really all that similar to their more famous colleagues. I remember in Italy, thanks to a special about them in the '80s by Rai curated by Carlo Massarini, they had a moment of fame, and in the interviews, you could see the band traveling around Italy with their Volkswagen van setting up the stage themselves... There are no CDs of their records, so I copied the LPs to digital format to listen to them more conveniently and, above all, to spare the sacred vinyl... The bassist Jeremy Meek is the member of the band I adore; his way of playing the bass is impressive to me, every note is in the right place and a great sense of rhythm... Jeremy is a great fan of Jaco Pastorius and has collaborated over time with another great band, The The.
I can't explain why the Live Wire are my favorites, yet my emotions lead me to them... only the Walkabouts come close to them in my very personal ranking, which takes into account exclusively the emotions that a listen evokes in me...♫
