The Profile

Argentine keyboardist and composer who emerged in the 1970s with M.I.A. After M.I.A., he issued four solo albums beginning with Sobre miedos, creencias y supersticiones (1981), formed a trio with Bernardo Baraj and Lucho González (selling 35,000 copies independently on the first album), led the Lito Vitale Cuarteto at the end of the ’80s, and launched a successful Canal 13 music program in 1992 reinterpreting popular themes.

Argentine keyboardist/composer; member of M.I.A. in the 1970s; prolific solo and ensemble career (including trios and the Lito Vitale Cuarteto); created a daily music program for Canal 13 in 1992; known for progressive rock and fusion with symphonic and atmospheric elements.

One review covers Vitale’s 1981 solo debut, composed and performed entirely by him. It highlights symphonic prog textures, Metheny-like fusion shades, and a notably full band-like sound. There’s one overtly experimental track, but the overall verdict is polished, balanced, and recommended. The review also sketches his path from M.I.A. to trios, the Cuarteto, and TV work.
