Litfiba embarking on a tour focused on the “Trilogia del Potere” and as if that weren't enough, they also record a double album to celebrate the '80s.
Just such a bombshell news was enough to ignite every respectable bandido. First, the unexpected reunion, crowned by a phenomenal tour and its live album that returned them to us in a state of grace, and then this... a true forbidden dream for any fan worthy of the name.
The result, despite everything, is bewildering and the reason is simple: what sense does it make to do a celebratory tour of the '80s by offering rearranged versions of old classics with the sound of the current Litfiba, thus stripping them of their typical new wave sounds?
Doubts increase when inserting the CD and the first track “Eroi nel vento” plays, showing us a listless and sly Pelù barking laconically in this soulless version of a great classic.
“Tziganata” continues in the same vein, but fortunately “La preda” comes along, perhaps the only song that seems to benefit even slightly from this new guise.
The album continues with highs (few, actually) and lows (too many) and highlights the lack of interest with which Pelù struggles to sing songs that probably no longer interest him.
In any case, it is pleasing to see gems like “Versante est”, “Pierrot e la luna”, “Re del silenzio”, and “Gira nel mio cerchio” on the setlist, although the significant absence of songs that would have been the icing on the cake of an operation like this is felt: “Luna” and “Lulù e Marlene”.
In conclusion, what will remain of this live? Very little, to be honest... After all, lovers of “early Litfiba” know well that the only live worth diving into those years satisfactorily is “Viva Litfiba Live”, and if Pelù prefers to go back to singing “Toro Loco” or “Il mio corpo che cambia”, that's his problem.
