"The show has yet to start..."

We are in Modena, at the PD party to be precise. The first one I attend.

After years I finally attend a Litfiba concert. Yes, Litfiba. You heard correctly. Mentioning Litfiba in 2009 can lead to the following questions: "do they still exist?", "is Pelù still there?" and so on.

Let's do a little summary.

Litfiba has a new singer: Filippo Margheri. With him, they recorded the "Five On Line", a sort of digital EP with 5 tracks recorded in their rehearsal room.

The current lineup includes the historic guitarist Federico "Ghigo" Renzulli, Roberto Terzani on bass and sampling, and Pino Fidanza on drums.

This Modena one represents the second official concert with this lineup.

It's just past 9:30 PM: people start to crowd near the barriers. Litfiba positions themselves quickly, and there's a roar.

"Effetti collaterali" begins to echo and immediately surprises, followed by the unreleased "Il mostro", which live sounds really good (I had been poorly impressed by the video posted on the official site). Meanwhile, the four go through their career proceeding with titles like "Ritmo 2", "Animale di zona", the evergreen "Cuore di vetro", "Dio", "Oceano" (notable, though with effort, Terzani's bass solo).

They are dusted off, in convincing versions, tracks like "Sotto il vulcano", "Ci sei solo tu" (brought back to the brilliance of Litfiba 3) and "Ora d'aria".

The encores stand out: "Fata Morgana", "Dimmi il nome" (some technical errors but enjoyable), the wonderful "Sparami". On the notes of "Lo spettacolo", the four bid farewell to their beloved audience.

Excellent performance given. Now we await the new album and, hopefully, a real tour.

In the meantime, "lacio drom"!
