Rating: To many, she is unknown, but Lita Ford was very popular in the '80s, both for her musical talents and her beauty (yes, she is quite the bombshell!), as well as for her notable relationships with Nikki Sixx, Tony Iommi, Chris Holmes, and so on. After the breakup of the glam/punk group Runaways (which also featured Joan Jett), Lita embarked on a solo career, producing fantastic albums straddling hard rock and hair metal. The album in question, "Lita," is the most popular, and several singles from it were heavily played on American music stations at that time.
Among the standout tracks is "Kiss Me Deadly," an energetic song with the usual "I love you! You drive me crazy!" style lyrics, but musically it is impeccable, and Lita also proves to be a skilled guitarist (the solo is amazing). Also noteworthy is "Can’t Catch Me," a powerful track written by Ford with Bob Ezrin (a well-known producer for Alice Cooper and Kiss) and the indomitable Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. "Falling in and Out of Love" is another great ballad (the video too, where Lita shows off her shapely figure), where Nikki Sixx, her then-boyfriend, is also credited (it is said that the track was written by the two under the influence of drugs and talks about their relationship). The closing "Close My Eyes Forever" features Ford dueting precisely with him, that madman Ozzy Osbourne (back when he was a real artist, unlike the current dazed homebody of "The Osbournes").
An album not recommended for those who despise the '80s and hate rock characterized by lipstick and makeup, but for lovers of that genre called hair metal, it's a must-have record. Who knows if our Lita will decide to return to work (her last album "Black" dates back to 1994), even though in recent years she has made a few appearances on various albums, especially on "A Twisted Christmas" by Twisted Sister in 2006.
