Crawling in my skin these wounds they will not heal...
You try to like things, but there's a limit to everything. I almost managed it with the latest Korn, I did it only to regret it with the latest Metallica, I've been waiting for a month for the courage to tackle the latest Sepultura... But there's a limit to everything.
The Linkin Park.
Two fucking idiots, or four or six, or however many there are, even Slipknot doesn't go around with so many useless people.
Hybrid Theory was something I liked as a kid, and honestly, it's still enjoyable for adults, every now and then. And Meteora was also okay, much more flashy and crude, but it was listenable. And it was fun to listen to a fake metalhead and a rapper doing angry stuff with guitars underneath and a DJ adding electronic sounds, and you'd wonder what these guys would end up doing. Sure, they arrived late when the nu-metal bandwagon was ending, but they were glossy enough to quickly win over a mainstream loyal audience and keep them going through the years.
But no, they chose the easiest path: mainstream pop rock perfect as a background for playing Call of Duty on Xbox Live. But I don't blame them: everyone likes money, and if Linkin Park cashes in, it's not their fault, but the fault of the suckers in the barnyard who go pecking at the corn. The albums suck, and I do blame them a bit for this. Making commercial rock doesn't automatically mean being terrible, but still, the blame falls on those who buy their records and even go to see them live.
But this?
It's 2017, and these six clowns come out, after twenty years of career, with an ELECTROPOP song?
Featuring Kiiara, who I don't know, but is a female singer.
A song with a piano underneath that in 2013 felt so intimate and intellectual. It sounds like Avicii, who after tormenting us with generic pompous songs, came out with that abomination to make some cash, trying to survive trends and attempting to legitimize himself as a serious singer with acoustic guitars and passionate singing.
But let's go back to Linkin Park. They release a video with the LYRICS BELOW and autotune, because in the last ten years if you don't make a song with autotune or a vocoder (even if you can't sing), it means you're not a genius, controversial, and intelligent artist like that piece of shit Kanye West.
Linkin Park. Someone on this site wrote they've moved from the worst of the nineties nu-metal to the sleazy pop-rock of Coldplay (which U2 had been doing for years). Now they've moved to electropop (hence all those remix albums: they were getting ready). Now let's sit and wait for their new full-length and ignore it as much as we can. For Pantera, changing genre did well, they started playing truck-driver groove metal, pretending and whistling that their glam past never existed. Let's hope for Linkin Park, sooner or later, it happens the opposite and people start telling them to fuck off. Then maybe we'll see them perform at local festivals when there's a new phantom nu-metal revival. And God save us from that.
