The Linea 77 are a band to keep an eye on for various reasons. So far, they have always made good albums, they are from Turin, and they play hardcore (two things that historically have always gone well together), and finally, they have a contract with an important English label (Earache), something not everyone can boast of.

Their latest work features 11 tracks that balance metal, hardcore, and a strong nu-metal influence that has characterized their style for an unsuspected amount of time. Moving on to what I like, I must emphasize that the group has the best rhythm section heard in Italy. Dade on bass and Tokio on drums form a really cohesive and powerful duo that produces a compact and flawless sound. This, in my opinion, is the band's strength. Paradoxically, it seems to me that these musicians are somewhat wasted in Linea 77 because they aren't supported by adequate musical writing. This is the group's weak point.

The songs are violent and energetic to the right degree, but in all three albums released so far, there is a lack of truly engaging singles. In this latest one, “Fantasma” stands out, half-sung and half-rapped with great style and aggression; Warhol, which echoes the Mr. Bungle style (with horns in the background); “66” with the voice of Subsonica's Samuel. Speaking of this last song, I'd like to say that the idea of pairing two voices, one rapping and one "vocalizing," remains a very valid solution that proves itself again with Samuel's beautiful voice. The same can't be said for the group's traditional second voice (Nitto), who doesn't seem to have the characteristics suited for the role.

“Numb” confirms all the good things said about Linea 77 but does not represent the masterpiece we were expecting.

Vivo
Guardando le stesse facce
Sentendo le stesse storie
Pensando:
ho quello che volevo?
Come il vento che soffia prima della tempesta
Un brivido percorre la schiena
Le spalle al muro
Se ho paura
resisto
Semplice e' la via per il lato oscuro
poco tempo per correggere gli errori commessi
dimmi dove buttero' i miei sogni

Dovrei passare tutta la vita a pensare alle cose che ho,
Alle cose che vorrei,
Al modo di raggiungerle
E poi a come difenderle?
Ma io non so cosa avevo prima
E non so quello che ho adesso

Sorrido ad ogni nuovo giorno perche'
Vivo sperando
Che le persone che amo
Proseguano nel viaggio
Stammi affianco
Ammira dall'alto il paesaggio
La bellezza intorno
Da Torino a Catania
Sopra un furgone
Una breve tappa a Roma
Citta' dell'imperatore
Indomita Genova
Le lacrime di Luglio
infondere paura come forma di controllo

Dovrei passare tutta la vita a pensare alle cose che ho,
Alle cose che vorrei,
Al modo di raggiungerle
E poi a come difenderle?

...compra ragazzino compra!
ho seguito i miei fantasmi
ora fantasma sono
questo e' quel che hai
perche' tu lo vuoi!

hai...vuoi... (x2)
haaai...vuuoi (x2)
hai...hai...vuoi...vuoi...vuoi...

Questo e' quel che hai
perche' tu lo vuoi
ora...e dimmi se...
questo e' quel che hai
perche' tu lo vuoi
sono un fantasma dimmi se ci sei
Questo e' quel che hai
perche' tu lo vuoi
ora...e dimmi se...
questo e' quel che hai
perche' tu lo vuoi
ora...

Chorus (x2) :
Sono storie facili
Come quelle che
Ti raccontavano da piccolo e tu credevi vere
Come e' stato facile
Restare fermo immobile
Chiudendo gli occhi e rinunciando a vedere

Facili come quelle che
Ti raccontavano da piccolo e tu credevi vere
Quanto e' stato facile
Restare fermo immobile
Chiudendo gli occhi e rinunciando a vedere

Good morning Miss Sadness
open your eyes
jumping on the ground,
walkin' and waiting for that day
i don't wanna loose
i don't wanna choose
a way to escape
'cause i wanna create
what?
a fake world to describe
full of winners with no smile
waitin for that day
i don't wanna play the game
so i'm coming
i'm gonna get you soon
to the sorrow land
to the third moon
watchin' the screen full of madness and freaks
with a strange man talkin' about shit things
i want to run faster
before i die
Follow the white rabbit
it's the right way
turn off the eyes on the world that you got
go out on the streets
watch the faces of all the people that you can see
feel the atmosphere!
watchin' the screen full of madness and freaks
with a strange man talkin' about shit things
i want to run faster
before i die

I'm floating in the space
watching my world in flames
the sky will never burn forever
I'm waiting for that day
when everything will change
the sky will never burn forever

go! go! go!

Follow the white rabbit
it's the right way
turn off the eyes on the world that you got
go out on the streets
watch the faces of all the people that you can see
feel the atmosphere!
Taste it and break it!
It's not a joke
comin' up...yo
you're not alone
so i'm coming
i'm gonna get you soon
from the land of sorrow
to the third moon

watchin' the screen full of madness and freaks
with a strange man talkin' about shit things
i want to run faster
before i die!

I'm floating in the space
watching my world in flame
the sky will never burn forever
I'm waiting for that day
when everything will change
the sky will never burn forever

watchin' the screen full of madness and freaks
watchin' now
watchin' the screen full of madness and freaks
with a strange man talkin' about bullshit
i want to run faster
before i die!

I'm floating in the space
watching my world in flame
the sky will never burn forever
I'm waiting for that day
when everything will change
the sky will never burn forever
