When talking about Linea 77, we talk about one of the best Italian bands, which, once again, have not disappointed.
Today I will talk to you about my favorite Linea album, the brand new "La speranza è una trappola - Parte 1"; this new album disappointed many of the old Linea fans since there is a strong presence of electronics in this album, more precisely Drum 'n Bass (easily mistaken for dubstep by those not in the know).
This, in my opinion, was actually a factor that improved the band’s work, which tested by the departure of the old singer quickly rebounded, offering us a gem like this.
The first thing I want to focus on in this mini review is the perfect combination between the electronic part and the voice in some tracks, for example in the last song "La Caduta" produced together with another group from Turin, the electronics blend perfectly with the singer’s fast verses.
The first track of the album is "Il veleno", my favorite, which with a truly fantastic text and with the voices of the two singers alternating results in something truly beautiful, almost syncopated, in short, perfect for a dance; in this song, you can feel the electronics I mentioned earlier since around 3:10 there is a Drum 'n Bass interlude that I would define as the calm before the final storm.
The fifth track, "Avevate ragione voi" is the one that in my opinion has the most important lyrics, almost seeming like a protest letter against the abuses of the powerful.
Overall, it is an album digestible for everyone, with simple rhythms but at the same time leaving us with something.
This is an EP, of 6 tracks, so I cannot go on much as I would become repetitive, but I can say that with this album, Linea 77 have recovered and can be proud to walk with their heads held high with this CD in their hands.
