The Profile

Linda Perhacs is an American psychedelic folk singer-songwriter whose debut Parallelograms (1970, Kapp Records) became a cult classic. After decades working as a dental hygienist in Beverly Hills, she returned with The Soul of All Natural Things (2014, Asthmatic Kitty) and later I’m A Harmony (2017).

Debut album Parallelograms was released in 1970 on Kapp Records and later achieved cult status through reissues. She resumed recording with The Soul of All Natural Things in 2014 on Asthmatic Kitty, featuring contributions from Julia Holter and Nite Jewel and production by Chris Price and Fernando Perdomo. A follow-up, I’m A Harmony, arrived in 2017. Perhacs is American and long worked as a dental hygienist in Beverly Hills. Her work is associated with psychedelic/acid folk and has influenced later folk and New Weird America artists.

Two DeBaser reviews map Linda Perhacs from the ethereal psychedelia of Parallelograms (1970) to her 2014 return with The Soul of All Natural Things. One piece rhapsodizes her voice and songcraft beside 60s/70s folk touchstones; the other places her comeback within contemporary listening habits and the vinyl revival debate. Julia Holter and Nite Jewel’s involvement and stronger production frame the modern set. Overall sentiment: admiring, with a cult-classic aura intact.
