I have known this group for a short time but one thing is certain: Lifelover were geniuses and were overshadowed by medium-value bands like, for example, the much-talked-about Shinning.

Unfortunately, Lifelover are no more because their singer, a guy named B, took his own life for reasons unknown to us.

The adjective "Depressive Black Metal", in this specific case, should be taken with a “grain of salt” considering more the “Depressive” approach than the Metal one. If you think of a reproduction of Burzum's sound or that of the eccentric Silencer, I'm sorry to write that you are very far from the actual content of the reviewed work.

The music of Lifelover, as already mentioned, has little in common with the frenzied and sulphurous rhythms of Black Metal. On the contrary, almost, you will easily find Indie, Dark/Gothic elements and even some Post-Rock! Elements that, occasionally, merge with accelerations and mephistophelean guitar riffs.

The heartrending scream of B is often accompanied by low and even spoken tones.

Many, faced with our schizophrenic proposal, have asked themselves this question: was the Lifelover project something serious or a big joke? Probably both hypotheses are true... even though it cost a life!

But what a beautiful album this “Erotik” is! To be enjoyed from the first to the last note. An emotional yet ruthless rock, a depressive rock with nocturnal tones. Tones not very bucolic and, strange but true, very metropolitan.
