Released by Morbid Cult in 2008, "Massive Conspiracy Against All Life" is perhaps one of the best works of the American artist Wrest, created with his Leviathan.
The album opens with "Vesture Dipped in the Blood of Morning", an intense and driving track, composed of sulfuric guitar riffs almost entirely accompanied by furious blast beats. "Merging With Sword, Onto Them" may be one of the most successful pieces of the album, the ethereal and spatial introduction will accompany the listener on an abyssal descent, which will then give way to the acid guitars that will escort the listener to the remotest corner of the mind where they will have their fill. "Made as the Stale Wine of Wrath" opens with a disharmonic arpeggio that soon gives way to a violent yet epic piece, not too distant from the coordinates of the previous tracks. The same goes for "VI-XI-VI", which, taken by itself, proves to be a good track. With "Receive the World", the album takes another step forward, as indeed the track starts with a remarkable energy, combining Black riffs with those of more classic Death flavor, supported by a hammering and relentless rhythm, then concludes with a long Ambient intercalation that offers the listener a claustrophobic sensation, but a decidedly spot-on one. "Vulgar Asceticism" is a good track, but decidedly in the wake of the others. To conclude, "Noisome Ash Crown" is a piece that, after a melancholic introduction of drums and synth, almost appears experimental with passages ranging from "Noise" to "Post-Rock".
In conclusion, "Massive Conspiracy Against All Life" is a very significant album in the history of American Black Metal. Wrest, a bearer of a Black Metal corrupted by Dark Ambient and American Death Metal, offers us a grim and minimal work, yet at the same time powerful and full of inspiration.
This album may not appeal to everyone, but personally, I recommend it to all those who want to delve deeper into the genre and have already had contact with the scene. For fans, this is an unmissable work, I highly recommend it.

Listening to his music feels like delving into the deepest, most hidden, and darkest depths the human mind has ever conceived.
Massive Conspiracy Against All Life is the worthy successor of the first chapter, matching it in terms of malignancy and ominous mental journeys.
