Jef Whitehead (yes, with just one F), aka Wrest, is the character behind the Leviathan project.

Leviathan usually produces ambient, violent, and misanthropic Black Metal, clearly inspired by Norwegian tradition. You might say these are overused adjectives for almost every Black Metal project/band, but it's important to distinguish: there's the quality type that truly makes you feel inside a dark experience and the soulless kind.

This album is an exception: a sort of compilation of old material, traveling somewhere between Dark Ambient heavily oriented on atmospheres created by distorted guitars and a few dashes of Noise.

Equipped with some electronic gear and the traditional guitar/bass duo, Wrest crafts a true depressive journey, towards unknown places.

The beginning is mysterious, on edge, with the dark and atonal guitars of "Traveling Over The Ocean's Skull" and "It Comes In Whispers, Part II". We are not safe, and we are sure of it with the sound of the cold wind blowing incessantly, but especially in the demonic whispers of "Particular Dis-ease".

A way of escape is sought, but the bare trees seem to move, hypnotized by the verses of nocturnal beasts so we slow down, as the deep melodies of "Shimmering With Horn Of Woe" return. Fear grows, thoughts become increasingly negative... we look for a place to hide. "A Silhouette In Splinters" echoes and we sink into our own tears.

Our end is near, "Blood Red And True, Part 2 (A Spell To Vanquish Sea Serpents)" is a harbinger of no return. There's no way out; the sun will no longer bring life to new days, and the sky will remain forever black.
