Les Paul (Lester William Polsfuss, 1915–2009) was an American guitarist, inventor and recording innovator and is the namesake of the Gibson Les Paul. Mary Ford (Colleen Summers, 1924–1977) was a singer and guitarist who partnered and married Les Paul (they married in 1949 and divorced in 1964). The duo had major commercial success in the 1950s and are noted for early multitrack recording and overdubbing techniques.
