A native of New York, son of a Russian Jew and a woman from the Bahamas, Kravitz magnificently embodies the sense of today's multifaceted and multiracial sound.

His music is a burning magma of more or less conscious citations and thefts, between the Beatles, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and harsh black music, from Sly and The Family Stone to Prince. After the fall of "Baptism" (which in my opinion is the only Lenny album not worth listening to), here is the eighth chapter that adds nothing to what was shown in the previous years. Once again Kravitz wanders cleverly and nonchalantly among many subgenres, never revealing his real artistic profile.

But this is the album that takes up the philosophy of Led Zeppelin precisely in the year of their reunion, trying to build a golden age LP as highlighted by "Love Revolution", "Bring It On", and "Love Love Love". It then moves on to "Good Morning", a blatant Beatles plagiarism, and the good Pop pen of "If You Want It". "Will You Marry Me" picks up his acidic and corrosive Funky of the good old days while "I Love The Rain" is another Beatles-style ballad. "Dancin' Til Dawn" instead recalls those Roxy Music-style songs from Manifesto. "This Moment Is All There Is" is a classic Kravitz-style song, then returns to the Beatles with "A New Door". The album closes with a reference to the Iraq war "Back in Vietnam" with very sixties sounds and "I Want To Go Home".

In the long run, the recycling game can become cloying and the 14 tracks neither add to nor take away from the debated artist but after all, an artist of this caliber should be praised. To discard is the mega-single created for MTV and for economic reasons "I'll Be Waiting" and also "A Long And Sad Goodbye", a song dedicated to his father.

NOTE: Some versions also contain very interesting Bonus Tracks and perhaps the most beautiful of the CD such as "We Want Peace", "Uncharted Terrain", and "Confused". I hope after listening to this CD you still have the courage not to shoot down this great artist. LET LOVE RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tracklist Lyrics Samples and Videos

01   Love Revolution (03:14)

02   Bring It On (03:35)

I'm gonna walk my faith
Gonna raise my sword
I'm gonna fight my battle
Gonna praise my Lord

It's getting heavy
But I'm ready
To take on this world and rock steady
So come on, bring it on

I'm gonna face my demons
Gonna take them down
I'm gonna keep on moving
Gonna make my sound

It's getting heavy
But I'm ready
To take on this world and rock steady
So come on, bring it on

06   I'll Be Waiting (04:19)

He broke your heart
He took your soul
You're hurt inside
'cause there's a hole,
You need some time to be alone,
Then you will find what you're always known,

I'm the one who really loves you baby,
I've been knockin' at your door,

As long as I'm livin' ,
I'll be waitin',
As long as I'm breathin',
I'll be there,
Whenever you call me,
I'll be waitin',
Whenever you need me,
I'll be there

I've seen you cry
Into the night,
I feel your pain,
Can I make it right?
I realize there's no end in sight,
Yet still I wait
For you to see the light

I'm the one who really loves you, baby
I can't take it any more

As long as I'm livin' ,
I'll be waitin',
As long as I'm breathin',
I'll be there,
Whenever you call me,
I'll be waitin',
Whenever you need me,
I'll be there

You are the only one
I've ever known
That makes me feel this way,
Couldn't on my own
I wanna be with you
Until we're old
You've got the love you need right in front of you
Please come home

As long as I'm livin' ,
I'll be waitin',
As long as I'm breathin',
I'll be there,
Whenever you call me,
I'll be waitin',
Whenever you need me,
I'll be there

As long as I'm livin' ,
I'll be waitin',
As long as I'm breathin',
I'll be there,
Whenever you call me,
I'll be waitin',
Whenever you need me,
I'll be there

Easygoing, cunning, and a circus industry clown.

An album that goes down like an ice-cold drink in the heat of August; delightful and ephemeral for what it is.
