Sometimes I find myself envying him. Very often I wish to be there, in Trieste, perched between the land and the vast sea, stabbed by the wind, pierced in the face by the wind.

"Meanwhile, I organize some trips I take you to visit Trieste To stock up on wind To make a supply of wind" ("Trieste")

"Trieste": they say it's a song by a postmodern chansonnier. They say. Well, it starts slow, with a piano. Big electronic finale. Great piece.

Lele Battista, Milanese singer-songwriter, class of '75, former 'La Sintesi' (Doctor, I urgently need to talk to you, I have created a morbid relationship with my girlfriend: I closed all the doors with the world, I slept embraced with her clothes, I almost wanted to stop her in amber, but then I understood that the safest place was inside me 'I Ate My Girlfriend'). Now solo, author of the concept album “Le Ombre”. A concept album about shadows.

"I felt the need to look inside myself, which is not always easy, and I was looking for a metaphor to define my attempt to explore myself. I thought I had a source of light inside that I can't fix because it's so blinding, and so I am forced to observe the projections of this light: the shadows, precisely." (taken from this interview)

36 orchestra elements providing the backdrop for a wintry, dark album, but not gloomy. An album that is a journey towards the light. An album of unexpected intensity, with lyrics that are never banal, sometimes brilliant. "Do you know that the Egyptians said that each of us is a star And that life is a journey that serves to return to heaven It's like a fall And the plane you were on is infinity It's about understanding what separates us from infinity We should start by finding some shadows In our restlessness, there are extinct joys And things that stop us That force our heads to stay bowed to the ground" ("Le Ombre")

A good cue to understand what separates us from infinity, I would say. An invitation to proceed along a path traced towards the shadows and come out full of answers. Answers, and questions. "And to search for the meaning of life What a struggle! It was next to me" ("Piove"). And Love. And banality. Not easy to tackle the oldest subject with the newest words. Nothing already heard.

"I was an angel with wet wings I feel like a tree with roots in the air Heart divided from the real world Sensitive to what seems to it" ("Amore Folle").

And novelty, the most beautiful moment, a peak with shaded colors, the voice wandering, just awakened, along new paths but seen. Or not? The doubt…

"I am in love For the first time No, maybe the thousandth But it's all so new that it almost seems Like I have no past." ("Tutto Strappato")

I'm at the end of the review: in the end, he wrote it himself. To him the ending. "Sky, I reflect you in my tears." ("L'odio")
