LA RECENSIONE

I Left Behind (not to be confused with the recent authors of “Death, take me”) are a melodic-hardcore band active since 2009 with two productions under their belt: “Learn to walk” from 2010 and “Away from here” from 2012. A combo that seems to have grown following in the footsteps of the more renowned bands from Fat Wreck Chords, seeking in the adrenaline and head-on impact of their own songs the right path to pursue.

A path that seems to continue without too many stylistic changes even in “No Time For Regrets,” an album characterized by somber traits concerning the lyrics and vocal interpretation, yet still inclined to that sound so popular in the ’90s. This work features nine songs, boasting a good job done during the production phase (the sounds are well balanced and adequately pumped) and generally ready to be easily performed live. A work that has what we could define as “a direct grip” on the listener, thanks to simple but well-devised instrumental solutions and a mix of scenarios that manage to make the individual episodes different.

As previously mentioned, the overall mood is strong with dark shades, and given the current times, it's easy to understand the reasons for such nervousness. “No Question, No Answer,” “Someone Believe,” and the schizophrenic “Doubts on Doubts” are the best tracks of the entire lot, aggressive and with the right attitude. If you are used to thinking of melodic hardcore as a sunny and party-style genre, you might not find much in this work, a problem that could, however, be quickly overcome considering the good quality of the product and the maturity now achieved by a band that between live performances and studio work has never stood still for a moment.
