RHYTHM ...

OBSESSIVE ...

...if I had to explain to someone what Dub is and what it's like, the first word that would come to mind would be: Cushioned.

Cushioned like cotton, extremely soft and spongy (musical) fabric fibers, but if well handled, hard and resilient. Dub originates from reggae and is fundamentally based on the remix of electric bass parts, drums, and percussion which, during the remix phase, are extended, repeated, as well as amplified and emphasized thanks to echo effects, dissonances, and various nuances.

The musical part most highlighted is the rhythmic section, while on the other hand, the other instruments are treated and placed in the background. It follows that this genre, deriving from an absolutely "original" and played music like Reggae, finds development and new life in electronics. Similarly, it follows that a musician-crazy-shaman, Lee "Scratch" Perry, a very active member and one of the founding fathers of Reggae, and an equally hyperactive and talented dj, Mad Professor, would meet.

What comes out of this meeting?!

The revisitation of an album by Lee Perry with the collaboration of the mad professor who enchants, obsesses, relaxes, and makes us nod our heads with a thousand samples, loops, and real manipulative finesse, also achieving the purpose of adding style and presence to Perry's schizophrenic voice.

Ultimately, if you feel like exploring a bit of Dub paired with minimal electronics and the genius touch of an artist like Mad Professor, who has enriched the sound of Africa Unite, The Orb, and Massive Attack, this is the record that will cradle you and make you nod your head within a musical and sonic experience that, I hope, will be extremely pleasant for you.
