Le Orme
L'Infinito

Guys, don't just focus on Le Orme from the '70s, this 2004 CD is a small masterpiece in my opinion, it's a return to true prog, to the early Orme (forget the '80s!!), certainly, a bit renewed but still of great value...
This album in its composition is very similar to "Elementi" from 2001 (there is a trilogy together with "Il Fiume"), but in content, it's totally different...

It starts with the instrumental intro "Il Tuono E La Luce" with a splendid sound of mellowtron (I think it's that...) and then you hear again the soothing voice of Aldo Tagliapietra in the next song "La Voce Del Silenzio". In "Shanti" we witness a beautiful duet between the two keyboardists Michel Bon and Andrea Bassato, with the addition of bass by Aldo it becomes a song with particularly exciting prog elements. The next track bears the name of the CD, "L'infinito": halfway through the song, the most important "piece" of this album is presented, which will be revisited in the last track in a "triumphal" way, and the words are very significant and intense: "And in the clarity of the sunset I understand that, infinity is an illusion... infinity is within me".

"Si Può Immaginare" is among the most beautiful songs, it contains a beautiful violin solo by Andrea Bassato and subsequently a fantastic organ solo by Michel Bon; once again you can admire Aldo's skill in composing lyrics: "One can imagine Silence, the Silence of the Universe. One can imagine a world illuminated with the immense". The following track "Il Tempio Sul Lago" is an instrumental piece, masterfully executed by Andrea on the piano, very sentimental... "Questo è Il Mattino" lasts only 40 seconds and introduces "Canto", a very catchy song. And here comes the sound of the sitar much loved by Aldo (also present in a song of "Elementi") in track 9 "La Ruota Del Cielo", even if it never excited me too much, still very beautiful and particular... "Tra La Luna E Il Sole" another among the most beautiful songs: excellent instrumental piece in the middle part of the song which once again highlights the great talents of these four musicians. "Come Onde Sull'Oceano" wonderfully introduces the final track "L'infinito (ripresa)" which closes beautifully this fantastic 45-minute suite.

This album once again proves that Le Orme are still the same (or almost), these four guys (a bit less Aldo and Michi) want everyone to know that they are not over at all and that they still have much to say... Let's just hope that this work along with the previous one from 2001 is a starting point and not an endpoint, for all those who love good music, because we all want the true prog of Le Orme, we want to dream with you up to INFINITY...

Haven't had the pleasure of hearing this album yet? Well, what are you waiting for, do it now, don't be fixated on their early '70s works, move forward... The same goes for "Elementi" (in my opinion on the same level as this one). You definitely won't regret it, you can be sure of that...

My rating is between 4 and 5 but I decided to give it a 4 because I am still very attached to their early works (it seems fair and obvious to me...)
