THE REVIEW

But I wonder: why does this wave (still unfortunately high and, for now, far from subsiding) of groups so interested in presenting themselves in their best melodic and catchy guise and wearing it (the aforementioned guise) at underage birthdays with a penchant for respectable and clean rock/punk/emo/metal/core not stop clogging the drains of the minor record market, not linked to the majors, and radically change their way of thinking?

Why, if they are evidently interested in the world of pop (since they ultimately want to be shamelessly commercial, even if they might not succeed...), do they not truly challenge themselves and try to compose songs capable of competing with those who know how to make these things and make them very well? Why don’t they release an album capable of challenging, for example, Coldplay? Why, if they have aspirations of a certain type, do they force themselves to fit into a sonic context where they know well that, except in exceptional cases (and this is not the case of Last Winter), they will go nowhere? Why not recognize, to themselves, that some limits cannot be crossed and it makes no sense to want to produce uselessness on an ongoing basis?

Last Winter must have the courage to take the coin in hand; heads or tails. If it’s heads, the next work must come out on EMI or Sony and end up on the charts (assuming they have the potential and I strongly doubt it...), but if it's tails, they need to go back to school and opt for a different career path, preferably not musical!
