The Profile

Las Ketchup are a Spanish pop group from Córdoba formed by sisters Lucía, Lola, and Pilar Muñoz. They achieved worldwide success in 2002 with The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) and represented Spain at Eurovision 2006 with Un Blodymary.

Their debut album is titled Hijas del Tomate; the group name nods to their father, flamenco guitarist Juan Muñoz “El Tomate”.

One DeBaser review revisits Las Ketchup’s 2002 summer boom, the beach-party euphoria of The Ketchup Song (Aserejé), and the internet-fueled occult rumors around its lyrics and imagery. The reviewer rejects the satanic readings, defends the trio’s carefree pop, and ends with a plea for their return.
