Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards

Musical Group

Side project led by Lars Frederiksen (of Rancid), blending street punk and hardcore with reggae and rockabilly; debut album released in 2001 and Viking in 2004.

Tim Armstrong is credited as producer of the previous album and performs on the track "My Life To Live" (as noted in DeBaser reviews).

DeBaser hosts three reviews covering the band's self-titled debut, the follow-up Viking, and a 2004 festival appearance. Critics praise the albums' punk, hardcore and reggae blends while a live festival report is dismissive. The studio records, especially the two full-lengths, are regarded positively.

For:Fans of Californian street punk, hardcore and listeners of Rancid

Lars Frederiksen, already a singer and guitarist of a major Californian Street/Ska Punk band like Rancid, forms a side-project called Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards, amix of Street/Hardcore with hints of Reggae and Rockabilly.

this one is definitely more varied and with better production than its predecessor.

Their music is a mix of blues and rock'n'roll (or rhythm'n'blues? who knows) that doesn't really leave much of a mark.
