The Profile

Lantlôs is a German project led by Markus Siegenhort (aka Herbst), moving from post-black/blackgaze roots (.neon, Agape) toward luminous shoegaze and alternative textures (Melting Sun, Wildhund). Early releases featured Neige (Alcest) on vocals; later records use Siegenhort’s clean voice and expansive production.

Formed in Germany and active since 2005; core member is Markus Siegenhort (aka Herbst). Neige provided vocals on early releases before departing prior to Melting Sun (2014). Albums have been released via Prophecy Productions. The 2021 album Wildhund continued the clean-vocal, shoegaze/alt-leaning direction. Siegenhort also ran the side project LowCityRain.

Three DeBaser reviews chart Lantlôs’ arc from post-black peaks (.neon) through the intimate Agape to the sunlit shoegaze of Melting Sun. Neige’s early vocals give way to Markus Siegenhort’s clean voice and denser arrangements. Production care, melodic layering, and mood-driven writing dominate. The tone is admiring and detailed, with emphasis on craft and evolution.
