American singer, songwriter, and producer, best known as one-third of Motown’s Holland–Dozier–Holland team, co-writing hits for The Supremes, Four Tops, and more. As a solo artist, he released richly arranged 1970s albums including Black Bach, Out Here on My Own, and Love and Beauty.

Member of the Holland–Dozier–Holland songwriting/production team at Motown; co-writer of “Baby Love,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” and “Nowhere to Run.” Black Bach (1974) followed his solo debut Out Here on My Own (1973), with Love and Beauty arriving in 1975.
