The Club 2 is closing.
At the last moment, I managed to contact some friends for farewell concerts.

Yesterday, the Notwist played and I didn't know, the newspapers and magazines said nothing. However, I got the news of the Lali Puna in time.

The Club 2 is very small, more a bar than a concert hall. What a mess it must have been yesterday. The bands have to enter through the main door.

At a certain point, I find myself near Markus Acher (Notwist, Lali Puna) who is explaining to a friend how the video camera works to record the concert. His voice is deeper than on the records.
I also see Valerie next to me, small and sweet, she smiles.

They start. The volume is too low, someone yells to turn it up, but they don't, I'm at the back and I can distinctly hear those next to me talking.
The drummer is left-handed, with the hi-hat on the right. He goes out of time, despite playing with a click.
Valerie's voice, whispered on the record, is barely audible.

They are less electronic than on the record, drums, bass, a Korg, a Nord Lead and a sequencer, which doesn’t produce much, or is not heard.
The surprise is Acher, who plays only the bass here, rocking back and forth relentlessly, beautiful riffs, on a Fender Jazz: this man is a genius.

They sound a bit like Stereolab jam sessions. And some things from the latest Yo La Tengo, but the sound is poor. The electronics, the little noises that pop up surprisingly with each listen of the record, are missing.
This is what we expected, stuff from the sequencer, but instead, we see a band.

They announce the last two songs. Valerie says tonight's drummer is a substitute...oh thank goodness.
They haven't played Nin–Com–Pop yet. Surely, it is the last one. But it never comes, because the laptop/sequencer dies on stage. They say goodbye.

Anyway, it was a good concert, for sure the other dates are less improvised. This was a spur-of-the-moment gig for friends. Still beautiful. Go see them now that they're coming to Italy. The dates are in the "News".
