THE REVIEW

Good evening everyone.

I begin my "career" as a reviewer with an album that, strangely, does not appear among the pages of DeBaser. Strangely because this is definitely the best work by Lagwagon. An album that came out in full "melodic hardcore" era (we're in 1994... smash, punk in drublic, dookie...), which fully fits the genre, and where the percentages of "melodic" and "hardcore" reach their perfect balance, IMHO.

I don't feel like doing a track by track, I only mention "Island Of Shame", "Coffee and cigarettes", "Stockin' the Neighbours"... and above all I mention Derrick Plourde, the drummer who played wonderfully on this album, and who unfortunately is no longer with us.

A band, Lagwagon, in my opinion undervalued, decent musicians, with an unmistakable style, who rock live, and who also know how to entertain. Because, shockingly but true, music can also be fun. It doesn't have to necessarily talk only about discomfort, depression, death.

Lagwagon

Lagwagon is an American punk rock band from Goleta, California, formed in 1990 and fronted by Joey Cape. Long associated with Fat Wreck Chords, they helped define 90s skate punk with melodic speed and tight arrangements; their 2005 album Resolve was dedicated to late drummer Derrick Plourde.
