I am about to review the latest work by Miss Germanotta, although it's hard to call it that way since it's a remix album, which does nothing more than recycle some tracks and present them in alternative versions. It's been two years now that she keeps churning out re-editions, limited editions, and remixes always taken from the same debut album, The Fame, in fact. Is she running out of ideas?
Well, let's move on to the album in question; the tracklist itself is a question mark, there are several remixes of the same songs and among these, an acoustic version of Poker Face pops up as track 16 which, although interesting (and perhaps the most lively point of this compilation), has nothing to do with the rest; okay, I understand that the album is not conceived as a single work to be listened to in one go, but rather a collage of tracks to zap through with our iPod.
Some remixes are truly surprising, such as the Robots To Mars Remix of Lovegame, which manages to give the song a completely different feel with the acoustic guitar, or the two of the now very well-known Bad Romance, more relaxed and less flashy than the original piece; along with the new version of Paparazzi and the remixes of the non-singles (The Fame and Dance In The Dark) conclude the positive notes of this album.
The rest? Some trivial additions of various effects that add nothing to the original tracks (Poker Face, Just Dance) or make them deadly boring (Alejandro, Boys Boys Boys), tracks that sound like car accidents (Eh, Eh Nothing Else I Can Say), that is, hodgepodges of sounds put together randomly that ruin initially good tracks.
In conclusion, aside from some excellent points, "The Remix" is definitely disappointing, half of the tracks are not redeemable, although the only acoustic track (Poker Face) of the collection leaves great expectations for the American singer, here Gaga fully shows her potential, she has a fantastic voice, which unfortunately often remains in the shadow due to the genre she performs.
I can only say that the money-making machine called Lady Gaga is unstoppable, "The Remix" is at the top of the Italian and global charts, unfortunately, it's the latest in a long series of commercial operations that in the long run can become tiresome. I already imagine that the next album will be a live one, or her most famous tracks in acoustic version...
In Italy, we also get the Japanese cover, a semi-nude of the singer covered only by some newspaper scraps with strong titles; I send to hell those who tell me the cover represents the destruction of the individual within society and blah blah blah... ...a naked woman on the cover grabs attention and increases sales. Period.
