THE REVIEW

With this heat, you really need something that pushes you to close the shutters and listen to notes with an autumnal flavor.

Said and done! Here I am reviewing "La Vanità del Sangue," the only demo recorded by our own Lacrime Di Cera, a '90s darkwave formation that gained some success in the underground of those good times. Then, as you can imagine, nothing.

Well, now that the sad notes are being spun out from the stereo speakers, I realize once again how this dark creature could have sparked and rightfully placed itself among the ranks of Italian gothic bands.

But history isn't made with "ifs" and "buts." History often shows no mercy to talented individuals and interesting proposals. Go read some of my reviews to better understand such dynamics.

Do not be fooled by the name of the band: it's not gothic for teenage girls or existentialists in their bedrooms. No, here there's real suffering and a genuine malaise.

Influences? Joy Division, undoubtedly, but also early Cure, Christian Death, Virgin Prunes, and some echoes of the golden age of Italian wave.

The amateur recording gives a "genuine" touch to the proposition, and certainly makes the singer's voice even more distant and blurred than it would sound on an LP.

I list tracks such as the opening "Cenere," the title track, "Senso di Vuoto," and "Orrore e Piacere." Gloomy pearls sung in the mother tongue. Obsessive litanies for souls anxiously awaiting the arrival of night and silence.

Guys: if you're listening, I ask only one thing. Come back and give us more music.

Summary by Bot

La Vanità Del Sangue is a haunting darkwave demo from Lacrime Di Cera, a 70s Italian gothic band that never gained mainstream success. The album offers melancholic, genuine, and emotionally intense music reminiscent of Joy Division and early Cure. Despite amateur recording quality, it conveys deep suffering and malaise through Italian lyrics. The reviewer urges the band to return with more music.
