LA RECENSIONE

Second to last chapter by Lacrimas Profundere, after the excellent Burning: A Wish which had already marked a shift from the melodic doom/death of their early days.

The first thing that stands out is the artwork that evokes desolation; that half-empty bottle, the shock I got thinking someone had scratched the cover... it was all part of the game. The Katatonia references are very evident!

The first thing you notice when you start the record (with the excellent For Bad Times) is the quite marked change. The growls almost completely disappear (a transition begun with Burning: A Wish), the gothic aura is much less prominent, almost absent, and you are faced with pure metal, well-played, almost "raw." The next track is Adorertwo (certain continuation of Adorer And Somebody from the previous album) which is very enjoyable and flows very well. Then we move on to Last, which starts strong, turns dark in the verse, and explodes in the chorus: fantastic!

I won't list all the songs because the whole album is noteworthy, but I wanted to linger a bit on Sear Me The Pale Sun (which lasts almost 8 minutes), where the growl reappears in the very first minutes and then becomes completely instrumental. Everyone knows how difficult it is to make a valid instrumental track, especially due to the boredom risk, but you feel like listening to this track all in one go!
The album ends with Fornever (kudos for the title, too bad someone got to it first), a strange track, very varied (the spoken interlude is very strong) and pleasing.

In short, a great album, which differs from the previous ones for having more personality, eliminating the "already heard something similar" problem for the record. Maybe some tracks are similar to each other, but I don't think that's necessarily a flaw (if one was good, the other will be too, with the added fact that something has changed).
A recommended purchase, a spring album, enjoyable, melodic and "metallic" enough.
Guys, keep it up!
