Turin group that some may remember for "Pop Corn" but who also recorded a prog album in 1972 released only in 2017 titled "Il lungo viaggio dell'amico Harry". The work was never published in '72 and it's easy to understand why; across the Channel in this genre, "Close to the Edge" and "Foxtrot" among others were released, making competition difficult for our group on home soil where "Storia di un minuto", Banco's salvadanaio, and "Uomo di pezza" came out. It was tough for Celestino Scaringella on vocals, Carlo Lena on keyboards, Gianni Foresti on bass, Luigi Catalano on guitar, and Valerio Liboni on drums, otherwise known as La Strana Società. After this experience, their success with Pop Corn would change the trajectory of their musical path from progressive to a lighter, more commercial sound. We are left with this production from them, with prominent keyboards and sung interludes, executed with good technical skill. Vintage sounds that transport us back to those years and bring us an amateur recording that, remastered, can make its way into the history of Italian progressive music.
