THE REVIEW

Behind the enigmatic name of La Pertz hides Alessio Mele, a young self-taught musician and composer, who in this EP offers two acoustic tracks with dark tones, yet ultimately melodic and easy to listen to.

The element that impresses the most is the voice, deep, warm, and enveloping, recalling in some ways, with the necessary differences, Nick Cave, or, to stay local, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi from La Crus. The arrangements are simple but effective, as are the lyrics that speak of feelings and states of mind tied to dark and blurred past moments, using metaphors and impactful rhetorical figures; A textual territory partly similar to that of the golden era of Italian prog (e.g., Il Balletto di Bronzo) or of a darker singer-songwriter style like I Ribelli of the never forgotten Demetrio Stratos.

A good start for La Pertz, not very original, but personal and easy (and pleasant) to listen to.
