THE JUNE KEY - K
(Cimice Records)
The June Key (known in the world as Giancarlo Sabatti Fausti) operates 360°. In every way. Both in his professional life (art therapist, actor, comedian, and radio host) and in his musical career (plays bass, guitar, has been in indie, grunge bands). This extensive backpack of experiences allows him to arrive at the starting line (for him, this is the debut album with The June Key) well-equipped. And we're not just talking about music. The music flows. To be clear. Unadorned indie pop rock. Bass, almost always acoustic guitar, drums (and some low-fi keyboards). At times, skewed sounds, somewhat in the manner of American alt indie slackers. However, JunKee's (another of his nicknames) attitude is not at all that of a loser. He clearly shows us this with texts that are never banal, brimming with energy, vitality, and a desire to live life to the fullest. Our guy could be a sort of indie Max Pezzali. Both for his great ability to write songs that stick with you with incredible melodies and choruses, and for this sense of positivity which is the main trait of 883. Additionally, on Giancarlo's side, there's a great sensitivity and a rather broad vocabulary that allows him to write lyrics that are flashes, beautiful photographs of his and our lives.
