Kurt Weill (1900–1950) was a German-born composer of stage and concert music, noted for The Threepenny Opera and collaborations with Bertolt Brecht; he emigrated from Germany and later worked in the United States.

Born 2 March 1900 in Dessau, Germany; died 3 April 1950. Collaborated with Bertolt Brecht on Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera). Emigrated from Germany in the 1930s and became a U.S. citizen in 1943. Significant works include Die Dreigroschenoper, Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, The Seven Deadly Sins, Lady in the Dark, Lost in the Stars.
