LA RECENSIONE

I would like to start this review as I usually do: by briefly introducing the band to familiarize those who are not maniacs of Underground Black Metal, but to be honest, I have absolutely no desire to do so. It seems completely pointless to waste words of introduction for a horrible band like Kurgaall. Therefore, I want to open my review with a reflection: why would a label like Lo-Fi Creatures, which has gained some fame over the past year, waste time and money to release a trash album like "Summi Verbi Lucifer"? Or more generally, why do record labels saturate the market by giving space to clearly useless and harmful bands?

While some of you readers think of an answer to my questions, I will force myself to spend a few words on this album. Essentially, it is at least fifteen years outdated Raw Black Metal, predictable, banal, devoid of any kind of ideas, and filled haphazardly with rudimentary supermarket Satanism. To be clear, I have nothing against a Black Metal band that wants to appear Old Style; often such groups that have made this choice have delighted my ears, like Pest or Sargesit.

I also have nothing against bands that intend to deal with Satanism in their lyrics; on the contrary, groups like Watain, Deathspell Omega, and Black Funeral I find absolutely extraordinary from a lyrical perspective. However, if you want to undertake similar choices, it is necessary to do so with some decency and knowledge to at least produce an interesting product. Kurgaall have nothing in common with the aforementioned bands; they are just buffoons trying to act tough, weighed down by studs and face painting. As if that weren't enough, the singer has a ridiculous and incredibly irritating scream, which only sinks any hope of saving this record.

With this, I conclude my review; I will just add that the only development Kurgaall have shown compared to their previous work has been a slight improvement in the production and the aesthetic of the album, which has become professional, albeit horrible. In any case, trash presented in a gift wrap remains trash. Horrible, useless, and detrimental from every point of view.
