I distinguish albums into three categories:
great albums (the ones I listen to some songs from every couple of days on average),
good albums (the ones I listen to some songs from every couple of weeks on average),
and terrible albums (the ones I revisit every couple of years because I don't remember what the record was like and out of curiosity, I listen again and find that the album is awful).
No Limit, the latest work from Kronik, is definitely not a great album for me (considering that for me, great albums are about twenty since the dawn of humanity), but it is also certainly not one of those albums to listen to every few years to remind yourself that the record really sounds bad.
Kronik, in the album—which is more to be considered a mixtape than an album due to the presence of American beats—brings a modern sound, that hip hop that until recently was said to reek of Florida, which no longer reeks because it is the style that is most taking hold. I define it as the style of those who are musically new and have something to say, who do not copy anyone, who want to rap and leave a message. Certainly, Kronik leaves a message.
They won't be the lyrics of Frankie Hi Nrg mc or Dargen D'Amico, but still, a message is left, and he abandons the monothematicism of 80% of newly produced albums, resulting in certainly much less banal than established hip hop groups, who vary their argumentation in their records by including unlistenable songs with lyrics less valid than those of a cartoon theme song sung by Cristina D'Avena.
The flow is there, the remixes are good, the entirely personal tracks are good, but in my opinion, Kronik gives his best in the featured tracks present in the album. The track "Nata Razz" with Alpha Alpha rapping in Pugliese is a standout. One of those that sounds strong, that comes straight, that as soon as it's over, you want to listen to it again immediately. Another great track is undoubtedly "Guerra" in collaboration with Tommy Smoka. Lastly, worth noting is the excellent beat of the "Dillo ancora" remix by Metrostars by Rage Hoover.
Overall, as I said before, it is a good album, lowering slightly by the fact that the beats are of American origin and not made specifically for the album. I recommend all hip hop lovers, especially those who love today's hip hop, to go and listen to it.
