THE REVIEW

Is there a more underrated band than this one?
No one talks about them, no one seems to know them, yet for about twenty years they have been churning out great rock albums. Yes, rock, because every categorization escapes in front of this band capable of playing every genre with a unique class in the rock scene.

This 1994 album is the one that introduced them to me. Let me preface by saying that before this, masterpieces like "Out of the Silent Planet" (1988), "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska" (1989), "Faith Hope Love" (1990), and "King's X" (1991) had come out, all deserving to be discussed.
In this CD, the trio formed by DOUG PINNICK, TY TABOR, and JERRY GASKILL thickens the guitar sound to keep up with the times (let's remember that in the heavy music scene, those were the peak times for PANTERA and SEPULTURA) while surrounding everything with those vocal harmonies that made them famous? The CD opens with three heavy mid-tempo heavy-blues pieces such as DOGMAN, SHOES, PRETEND and then takes a break with FLIES AND BLUE SKIES where Pinnick makes listeners dream with his splendid voice. The album continues to roll out heavy-rock, hard, blues, and funk with a dive (GO TO HELL) into the group's hardcore past and closes with the Hendrix cover MANIC DEPRESSION.
This album thus leaves behind the prog excursions of the past to be more direct and rocking. A path that will lead them to record more excellent albums while waiting for the new one coming out soon.

I recommend any rock lover to get close to this band and go see them live; they will amaze you!!
