THE REVIEW

A little hesitant, but you just can't say no to the kids, I get the tickets, fill the car with sixteen-year-olds with highly rock hormones, and daring the unknown (I've never given a damn about the Kings of Leon!!!) I enter the Futurshow Station.
"These guys are great, they rock!!...". I think....."if they're all like "Use Somebody", I'm in for a boring night!!"....

Meanwhile, some Wighs are playing, I struggle to understand what genre they are, they don't even excite the kids who convince themselves to go for a stroll and check out the Virtus Bologna museum. Slowly, people start coming in, but it's not packed. Smoke... Police in the background (uhmm I like it!!)...super distorted bass and they kick off with "Crawl"......wow!!!....Powerful, they begin with a dance floor filler.....
Huge screens frame the whole family going all out, and the crowd applauds wholeheartedly.
I put on a bit of a show, letting the kids know I've seen better, but I soften up a bit....ah.....amateurs...
On "Mary" (a song with little to offer), the amplification goes out and I chuckle, but in truth I'm already sufficiently captivated by the atmosphere and by a group that, all things considered, rises to the occasion.

In the end, I know almost all of them....shamelessly, they don't hide the minor and, frankly, forgivable sin of delivering practically 90% of the hour and a half concert with tracks from the last two albums. The fans are ecstatic, and believe me, genuinely engaged and involved...The show doesn't lose its pace and the encore with "Closer," "Sex on Fire," and "Black Down South" wraps up the concert more than respectably.

In short, I liked them, I enjoyed their ability to own the stage, their great rhythm (bass and drums as strong points), the few blemishes, and the feeling (and here's the biggest compliment!!) that they manage to naturally and effectively convey the simplicity of their music with great passion.

Every now and then, leave your discography aside and listen to your kids!!!!
